  I loved my visit to Sur La Table. I was offered a cup of ice cold water with fresh lemon in it. Nice and refreshing. I felt valued as a customer and was ushered through bins and shelves of items as I inquired about fry pans and skillets. This is where I come to my lowered rating of only 3 out of 5 stars. The staff was delightful. Everyone was cheerful and pleasant. However, I feel utterly duped. I realize it is my own fault that I did not research the product I intended to purchase prior to my visit. I was dazzled, much like Kinsella's Shopaholic, by the advertised sale price: $99.00 when it was usually $169! WHAT a bargain. My husband and I ultimately decided that this was to be our pan for the "rest of our lives" and made the purchase feeling vastly wise and knowledgeable. Upon returning home, I looked out Scan Pan to see how it was constructed as the sales person (Karen) had informed us of its layers of titanium, aluminum, glass, and ceramic. I wanted to know more. Then, out of curiosity and also the anticipation of adding to our herd of Scan Pans (now numbering two) I looked at the price list. What?! The REGULAR price for my pan is (gulp) $99.95 so I REALLY saved 95c. The 10" pan (which was the one we really wanted) is LISTED for $89.95. I feel a bit jilted and wilted. I really trusted this store. We were enchanted with the help there. We were urged to support the store and its growth by making purchases and visiting more often. Uh... My rose colored glasses are now broken. I am a business owner and fully understand the need to promote one's business. However, I also realize the need for candor and utmost honesty, both of which I feel were abused during my visit to Sur La Table today. If you know what you're looking for, have a great time at Sur La Table. If you are a novice or looking for a new product, do your homework so you don't end up feeling silly. I prefer my eggs in the pan instead of on my face!
